Roughly how much money can someone expect to make out of school with a BS and MS in Geology?

And how fast/much will the salary increase?

1. My Geology Proff said the he makes about 65,000 a year teaching while a buddy of his that works as a Geologist for a big oil company makes almost triple what he does with the same degree. PH.D.
2. With an MS especially if you have a degree in geophysics and starting out with a major oil company you can expect to pull in at least $70k at first ...experienced people with 10-20 years experience make 2X to 3X that figure. Other fields of geology pay less such as teaching in highschools, or environmental geology.
3. I worked in mining and oil with an MS starting at the bottom both times. It's been too many years since I was in the industry to provide useful numbers though. Take a look at the link below. They have some info on current jobs and salaries.
