How to make money from books or films?

I am planning on writing a book (or a film). Once that is finished, how do I go about getting my book published. Also, when it gets published (or the film gets made), how will I make money from it?

  1. You get a fraction of a cent for each copy that is sold. Typically ( and in my experience) I wrote a book, finally (and it took a LONG time) found a publisher that would work with it... they published it and I paid them, they own all the coppies and distribute it to stores, they get all the cash I get a few cents from each... also I had to buy coppies of the book form them (at cost) to sell on my own... Very tough very very tough but stick it out, nothing better than walking into Chapters or Indago and finding your book
  2. Writers like you have every potential to get started on a publishing career. If you are looking for self-publishing companies to publish your book, I know of a few companies that practically holds court to everything a book needs from getting you your copyright, size preferences, book cover design customization, layout consultation, copyediting and even marketing – at affordable costs. Publishing companies now have all the resources to publish books with the same productivity and efficacy as that of regular black and white books you see in physical bookstores. Considering the fact that most books are in full color, you should choose a publishing company whose book’s are of the highest quality, bar none. Considering that you are going through the self publishing direction, I know this particular publisher is very transparent with its royalties. The rest of the money (40%) goes to the cost of printing the book, (20%) goes to manufacturing and order taking cost and only (10-15%) is our profit (i.e. cost of paper, ink, binding) Royalty is based on retail price (not on net price as opposed to our direct competitors) – royalty is fixed. Wow - that is a lot of money! Good luck! :)
