Moms Work From Home Knowledge Base

For stay at home moms, what do your husbands do when they come home from work? I'm just wondering for those moms who stay at home with their kids, when your husbands/boyfriends come home from work, do they help out with the kids at all?? I know my husband works extremely hard to provide for his family, but should he not have to do anything at all when he comes home from work? Sometimes I'll ask him to give our daughter a bath and he says its my job to do that b/c he has worked all day. I don't make him do anything around the house except clean the shower b/c he is a mechanic and the shower can get really dirty due to his work so that is the only thing I ask of him. I'm just wondering if it is fair that just b/c he works outside the home, he shouldn't help out with the kids as far as bathing them, brushing teeth, putting them too bed, etc.

Stay at home moms who work from home- How do you do it with children home? I need some ideas please? I've been a stay at home mom since my 2nd daughter was born (she is now 16 months.) This past month I got a job- only it's mostly things I can do from at home. There's not really a set schedule and money is really tight- so I don't really feel I can take her to my sisters for daycare and pay her one or two days a week. My 8 year old is home starting this week on summer vacation from school. How can I make sure they are both entertained and safe while I try to get SOME work done? (ie so I can sit at the computer for more than 10 minutes and get some things done?) How do you organize your days if you work from home and have kids home? My 8 year old can pretty much entertain herself (between playing outside etc..) but my 16 month old is too young to go outside alone with her and I dont want to just plop her in front of the tv! Ideas? Also- I've noticed since I need time to work my 16 month old is SUPER CLINGY ALL of the time. Unless I'm holding her she cries etc... I don't know what to do! Is it just a circle- where she is picking up on my stress/guilt for working and the fact she has to entertain herself? Doesn't this always happen with kids though? hehe whenever you have something that needs to get done- they suddenly need your undivided attention? I *could* do the work (well some of it) after they are in bed for the night. However I take care of my grandparents and by the time the girls are in bed i am exhausted and usually within an hour or two go to bed myself. That hour or two is spent spending time with dh and getting things ready for the next morning!

Why did my dad check the oil and water in my moms car when he came home from work? She went to clean a house like always and then was at home the rest of the day so why did he check the oil and water in her car when he got home.
Are there any moms that found a good work from home job after the baby? I REALLY don't want to go back to work after we have the baby, which isn't until Feb but we are planning ahead. Day Care will be about 500-600 a month which still leaves about 1100 take home for me a month. That is a lot of $$ to just give up. We live in Tx obviously by my name so cost of living is pretty cheap, but I just don't think we can pay our mortgage and all other bills on my husbands 56,000 salary. He is an Engineer in Training, so for those of you familiar it is like an apprenticeship. In 2 yrs he automatically gets bumped up to over 60,000, but what can I do now? All those home based jobs with investment required make me extremely nervous. I need a steady set amount coming in. Help if you can. Thanks for all answers.

is there any best work from home kind of job for moms? hi can any one tell me the best ,free & spam free work-from-home kind of job?
Stay at home and Moms who work outside the homes, can we settle our differences and find common ground? It seems like we have a lot of moms who feel the need to defend their choice to either work or to stay at home. Many of us do this for different reasons. Why can't we accept that neither situation is 100% the right thing in all circumstances instead of criticizing those who either are stay at home moms or work outside the home moms. Can't there be a way to support and encourage each other instead of having to criticize or get defensive over our choices?
Why just why did my dad check the oil and water in my moms car when he came home from work today? The only place she went in her car today was to walmart to buy groceries and then she came back to the house. 20 answers please.
Are work from home/stay at home moms lazy? I am a work from home mom and generate my income from home on a 1099 basis. I enjoy it because I am able to give my small babies more attention and keep things up around the house. Handle business during the day and still not be tied to a schedule. I get a lot of negative feedback from mostly family members on my side of the family and also my husband's side. People say I'm lazy. I just don't want to go out there and work. I need to get off my ass and go work a real 9-5 job. He should not even be with a house wife. They are just not sold on the hold work from home thing. They think it's bull and it's impossible to make money home. The think that I am flat out lazy. Someone the other day just told me you're a smart girl why do you chose to sit on your ass all day, get out there and work on someone's job and help your man out. They just don't get it. I am helping out. I am an independent sales contractor and conduct sales at home and it's going great. I'm tired of people putting me down.

When do stay-at-home moms typically go back to work? If you're a stay-at-home mom, when do you plan to go back to work? When your child starts First grade or later?
Working Parents with kids in Daycare - Ever get rude comments from stay at home moms? My wife and I respect other peoples decisions on whether they choose to work or choose to stay home with their kids. However, we receive lots of really rude, strongly opionionated comments from stay at home moms often. Comments include, 'I decided to raise my kids and not have somebody else do it.' Or we're playing with the kids in the yard and a stay at home mom will say 'It's so nice to see you spending some time with your kids.' Interestingly, I've near heard a working parent throw negative opions or comments at stay at home mothers. Why are some stay at home mom's so angry and why do they feel the need to verbalize their opinions? Has anybody else experienced this rude behavior? My kids are in a GREAT day care. They are well-socialized. They are confident. I believe they are getting great educational experiences every day and working on creative projects. My kids are extremely happy. We are saving for their future. What is so wrong?

What kind of work-from-home jobs are there for stay-at-home moms? I have been lucky enough to work-from-home for almost a year since I had my baby in March, 2007. I love being a stay-at-home mom. My current employer might be laying off staff and I am afraid I might be one of them. With another baby on the way, it will most probably be hard to look for another job knowing I will be taking maternity leave after 9 months. I do mostly admin work. Help with conference planning. How did you get into medical transcription? Is this something you need courses for?

Question for the Work at Home Moms? A question specifically for moms who either work for an employer, just from their home office, or those who run their own business: How to you stay organized and focused with work while attending to your children? I am expecting our second child late summer and have my toddler daughter in daycare. Two kids in daycare full time is not going to work for us. Frankly I'd like to stay home with her but financially can't- that's another story. So...my employer really values me, that is not a concern for me, and I believe that he would allow me to have a schedule flexible enough to work maybe 2 days in the office and work the rest from home. This would be so ideal! But, I don't feel comfortable proposing this, unless I know that it's realistic to handle between 12-24 hours a week at home while taking care of the kids myself. Does anyone else do this, and how have you been able to make it work for you? Thanks for all of the answers. I work in the marketing department and I do have to make and accept calls but I much prefer to do things via email and my vendors and other contacts know that. I would not be dealing with anyone who would be offended by hearing children in the background but I'd still want to avoid it. Most of what I do is reseach on the internet and also a lot of copywriting, analysis etc. Thanks for all of the answers. I work in the marketing department of our company and I do have to make and accept calls but I much prefer to do things via email and my vendors and other contacts know that. I would not be dealing with anyone who would be offended by hearing children in the background but I'd still want to avoid it. Work at home moms? Is there any moms out there that do work from home and where can i find jobs that will let you do that? no spams please!
Stay at home moms- how did you make it work financially? My husband and I are looking at possibly starting a family next year. We're not wealthy, by any means. I'd really like to be a stay at home mom. My husband is supportive of this, if we can find a way to make it work. (I plan on going back to work part to full time once our future child enters kindergarden). I'm currently about 1/4 through my college degree, and will continue to take night classes once we have a child (The way we're planning, I'll be about 1/2 way through college when they are born). For clarification, I am almost in my mid twenties, not fresh out of high school. :) My husband works days, so he can be home with our future child in the evenings when I am at class. To the stay at home moms who did it on a budget- how did you do it? Any good tips/ideas? What worked for you? How hard was it? (I don't want to spend each month worrying if we're going to be able to pay the water bill). Thanks so much for your answers!!
Single mom in college...wants to work from home...cant figure out what to major in...any ideas????? Single mom in college...wants to work from home...cant figure out what to major in...any ideas????? I am a 27 year old stay at home mom with a 4 year old daughter...basically I am the mom and the dad too. I realized I need to go back to school and get a degree because I have a feeling I am going to be doing this (supporting my daughter alone) forever. I would like to get my degree in something I'd be able to use at home....I was considering majoring in business and minoring in accounting ...or vice versa. Any ideas??????? My parents have been supporting us ....and it's been awesome...but I really need to go out and get something for myself and for my daughter.
Working and stay at home moms? Why not compromise and think about part-time work? Don't understand all the fuss here. I consider myself a stay-at-home mom but I do work about five to ten hours a weeks depending on my work schedule. I think it is the best of both worlds. Yes, I understand single moms can't do it. Yes, I understand some people are so broke they can't (Although I question why did you not plan a little better- baring some extreme circumstances). I really question a two family income where the mom HAS to work full time. Are you telling me that you can't reduce to half-time? Reduce the cable, phone, get a cheaper house, cut down on expenditures... are you really living in such an extreme situation??? Can't stay home for at least a year? Basically how do you refute that all the literature states that for the best well being of a child the mom should be the primary care giver for the first three years of their life. People go into debt for vactions and to remodel their home why not go into debt so you can stay home at least part time with your child? I guess I wonder why more Mom's with an significant other don't work on a part time basis instead of full time (for at least a short time). Kids are young once. Do you really think a daycare will love and care for your child as well as you can? Will you some day look back and regret not spending more time with your children? Henry Violet obviously does a crappy daycare... I am interested b/c being raised by an army of babysitters (As I was) really, really sucked! Our plan is that as soon as the youngest is in school I will work pretty mcuh full time and the kids will be in aftercare for about 10-15 minutes a day. (Just because my husband may not be able to make it home in time everyday). So that would be less then one hour a week of aftercare. I currently work from home and hope to continue to do so (That's our first plan) Working a job from outside the home and using an hour of aftercare a week is the second plan. Why can familes live tight for just the first three years of a child's life? Why??? Why does the mom have to work full time? Again, single parents excluded. I have know people who worke din daycares- horrible. Now a family member helping out that's a different story. But of course, I think it would be nice it the mother is the primary caregiver. My opinion of course. Although it is backed with scientic literature. Sorry, demarkation_line. Look up it on Pubmed. Again try and find a child psychologist who says otherwise. And of course, duh, an abusive mom is not good - working or not. I think there is a lot of guilt from mom's who have a choice to stay at home at least part time but instead put their six week old babies in daycare. Lets see the live of a baby. Wake up, get dressed, eat, off to daycare, come home, eat, bath, some playtime (a short amount), then bed. When do they really get quality time with the family? On the weekends? I not saying don't work at all. I'm saying what about a compromise?? At least for a year or two? C'mon. You can't afford that? Or you choose not to?
Work at Home Moms!? I work part time for a criminal attorney. I love the work I do. In September, my babysitter quit (I have two children). I live an hour away from my closest family members, and I live in a big city, and I really don't trust anyone to watch my children. I have looked into daycare, but it costs per month exactly what I make per month, so I would basically be working to put my kids in daycare. My boss and I worked out a system where I can work from home most days of the week, and come into the office three mornings. My husband also worked out with his boss some mornings that he could have the baby at work while our oldest is in school. It worked out pretty well, until now. My boss has wanted me to pick up extra responsibilities. Since I am not in the office as much, there is less time to do the stuff that can only be done at the office. And when I am there, I usually have emergencies to take care of, so it takes a while to get tedious stuff done. Now with all of the extra stuff, things are getting more and more behind. On top of this, my baby has a vision condition that we are going to the doctor quite a bit for (meaning I miss work), and she has been sick for a long time with a cold and other things that require doctor visits (meaning I miss more work). When I am home, I am trying to work and take care of her, and things get even MORE behind. Anyway, here is the point of my story. How do you manage all of these stressors as a work at home mom? And is there a point where you really have to evaluate whether to be home with the kids exclusively or work in an office exclusively? This really wouldn't be an issue if I had a support network near me, but I moved away from my family and we can't just up and sell our house right now. Also, my husband is working two jobs to help us, so it is really hard to lose an entire income. Has anyone been through this before? If so, how did you handle it? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for hanging in there since this was so long!

Stay at home moms whos husbands work long hours? How do you keep from getting lonely? My husband sleeps till nine in the morning, goes to work at ten, and comes home at about 9:30 at night. We have a good relationship, I just hardly see him. I am a stay at home mom, because we are actually saving money by me not working. Daycare is expensive, and we have five kids between us.We rarely get to go on dates because there is no one willing to watch five kids at once, so we have to find several babysitters, and make sure they are all available every time we go out.Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being a mom, my kids and I have a blast together, but sometimes I just get so lonely without anyone to talk to but my kids all day. I have sort of resorted to corresponding with people on here ( I don't like chat rooms) , to get some kind of adult interaction. But I've found that usually people on here don't want to interact beyond the questions and answers. I know this probably sounds like "Poor me" , but it's not. (running out of room....) I would just like to know how other stay at home moms keep from getting so lonely? We only have one vehicle, and my husband has to take it to work, so getting out within these hours is out of the question. I'm usually fine, there are just some days when I feel like " Man, I wish I had someone here!" To plugged in mom- Six children,Gosh! All ten and under, too. I've got two stepchildren, but they live with us all the time, and three of my own. They are ranging from ages 7 to 1 yr. Alot of times that is what keeps me going, is knowing there are other moms out there who do the same, or more! To Pedro- I used to get on chat rooms a couple of years ago, and it seemed like there was always a bunch of people who would just go in there specifically to ruin it for everybody. It just seemed like a bunch of immature people who like to argue. I'm sure they are not all like that, but it kind of ruined the experience for me. Come to think of it, that's how it is alot of times on Answers, too, isn't it? If I could find a chat room with people who are serious about having a conversation, and who don't ruin it by turning it into a chance to bash someone, or wanting sex, that would be great!
Why do stay home moms stay far away from stay home dads? I have been a FTD (full-time dad) for six years now and have gotten the cold shoulder from stay home moms during that time. My closest friends are women, but they live out of state. Checked on-line groups, etc = nothing in my area. Many know I am at home with children but I have never been asked to participate in any activities/ playgroups or the like. Starting to feeling like a fish out of water - Getting a little discouraged.
Stay at home mom needs to work from home.? I am a stay at home mom and need to find a way to be able to work from home. I type 95+ wmp and would like to type things up for people for a fee, also to put it into a format of whatever they would like. I have already put an ad on the paper, any suggestions on how to either expand on this idea or make it a success.?
Moms that work and stay at home? I know this has been an ongoing debate about which is harder, going to work and raising kids or being a stay at home mom. Just wondering what some of you thought about it and why. I used to work full time with 2 children, do ALL the cleaning and half of the cooking, plus I was the driver to and from daycare and getting them ready every day and then going to work. So I can say i've done it both ways and I really think staying at home is harder. There is no relief. You don't get a day off, a sick day, you take your work with you on vacation, and so on. Yes you can PAY a sitter to get away. It's the only job I know that you don't get paid to do, and you have to pay to take time away! LOL!!!
Want opinions from stay at home moms? I am 25 years of age, currently undecided with school (tuition too high - pay all myself). I am basically almost married without the paper, ring, and party. When my boyfriend and I discuss the future I tell him I would like to be a stay at home mom, he understands my reasoning. Everyone else in my life NO. I am so sick of being asked about MY future, other people telling me MY life isn't going the way they imagined. I have faith, I think things will be okay. But I am here to ask stay at home moms, is it really as bad as everyone is making it seem, mainly the money? I don't think I'll get bored or crazy or anything like that I have been preparing for this almost my whole life I can't wait to be a mom but I just wish other people will be supportive. No one yet in my family has graduated from college and I feel like all the pressure is on me. Or people thinking I'm using my boyfriend, but I'm not. I just wish someone would give me a big hug understand my reasoning and say it wil be okay. I've been going to school since 2001 but I keep changing my majors and now school is expensive so I've taken a break. Trust me I'm not looking for easy out and I have skills. Nothing is fitting though and I'm not consumed with the idea of being stuck in a job I hate but hey if I'm making money good for me - that's not me.
